Part 1: Post Summer Skin Recovery Series
  • Post-Holiday Skin Rescue: Why Your Skin Feels Exhausted (And How to Fix It)

  •  Welcome back! If you have just returned from a glorious sun-soaked holiday, whether that was a beautiful beach in Mexico or a relaxing Mediterranean retreat, you are hopefully feeling rested. Your skin, however, might be telling a completely different story.

Part 1: Post Summer Skin Recovery Series
  •  Let us be completely honest; sticking to a perfect skincare regime while juggling hotel room counters, varying climates, and totally different daily routines is incredibly difficult. When you are dipping in and out of the pool or the sea, the salt and chlorine naturally dry out your skin. We also know that reapplying SPF every two hours is tricky, and avoiding UV exposure entirely is impossible unless you literally lock yourself indoors all day.

  •  If you are looking in the mirror and feeling frustrated, please know you are not alone. Here is what you might be seeing:

    • Dryness and dehydration: A tight, lacklustre appearance from chlorine and salt water.

  •  More prominent fine lines: Often a direct result of dehydration and squinting in the sun.

  •  Increased pigmentation: New freckles, dark patches, or an uneven skin tone from UV exposure.

  •  Blocked pores and breakouts: Often caused by not adequately removing water-resistant SPF at the end of the day.

  •  Step One: Assess and Reset

  • The first step back to glowing skin is booking a full skin analysis and assessment with us. Using our advanced Observ520x scanner, we can see exactly what the summer has done both on and beneath the surface to create a bespoke treatment plan just for you.

  •

  • At home, it is time to get back to basics. Focus on deeply hydrating the skin, implementing a good but gentle double cleanse every evening to sweep away impurities, and remaining diligent with your daily SPF.

  •

  • Here are our top product recommendations to get your recovery routine started:

  • First Cleanse: To break down stubborn, water-resistant SPF and impurities, start with the La Roche-Posay Toleriane cream cleanser or Garnier Micellar Water.

  •

    • Second Cleanse: Follow up with a rinse-off cleanser tailored to your skin type to deeply clean the pores. Excellent medical-grade options include the Obagi Gentle Cleanser, Obagi Foaming Cleanser, ZO Hydrating Cleanser, or ZO Gentle Cleanser.

  •

    • Antioxidants and Brightening: A Vitamin C serum is essential for treating dullness and providing antioxidant protection. We recommend the Obagi Professional-C, La Roche-Posay Vitamin C, or Medik8 C Tetra Advanced.

  •

    • Deep Hydration: Quench thirsty skin and repair your barrier with a dedicated moisturiser like Obagi Hydrate, Hydrate Light, or Hydrate Luxe, or the Medik8 Total Moisture hydration cream.

  •

  • A Quick Note on Vitamin A

  • If you paused your Vitamin A products (such as retinol, retinal, or tretinoin) while you were away, please do not rush straight back into daily application. Focus on getting your basic recovery routine in place for a week or two to prepare your skin barrier. Once your skin feels hydrated and calm, reintroduce your Vitamin A just two to three times weekly for the following two weeks. You can then gradually build back up to daily use within four weeks.
