Skin boosters are injectable treatments that deliver active ingredients, most commonly hyaluronic acid, directly into the skin to improve its quality from within. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume and structure to specific areas, skin boosters are designed to improve the condition of the skin itself: its hydration levels, elasticity, texture, and overall luminosity.
The results are gradual and build over several weeks, producing skin that looks and feels healthier, smoother, and more resilient. Because they work with your skin's own biology rather than altering its structure, the outcome is entirely natural, you look refreshed, not treated.
Skin booster treatments are suitable for a wide range of patients, from those in their thirties looking to maintain skin quality, to those noticing more established signs of dehydration, crepiness, or laxity. They can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.

Profhilo is the most clinically established skin booster available and the treatment most frequently requested by our patients. It contains one of the highest concentrations of pure, stabilised hyaluronic acid of any injectable product on the market. Unlike conventional skin boosters, Profhilo doesn't stay where it is injected, it spreads beneath the skin using the Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP) technique, dispersing across a wide treatment area to simultaneously hydrate from within and actively stimulate the production of four types of collagen and elastin.
The result over a course of two sessions, administered four weeks apart, is meaningful improvement in skin firmness, hydration, texture, and overall tone. Most patients begin to notice results within two to four weeks of their first treatment, with the full benefit visible around eight weeks after the second session.
Profhilo is particularly effective for patients noticing early laxity, crepiness around the neck or lower face, general dullness, or skin that feels thinner than it used to. Maintenance sessions every six months are typically recommended to sustain results.

For patients experiencing more significant laxity, particularly around the jawline, neck, or lower face, we also offer Profhilo Structura. Where standard Profhilo focuses primarily on skin hydration and surface quality, Structura is specifically engineered to target the deeper structural tissues beneath the skin. It provides a more pronounced lifting and firming effect, addressing the underlying support structures that contribute to visible sagging and loss of facial definition.
Profhilo Structura is often recommended as a complement to standard Profhilo, the two treatments work at different depths and together can address both skin quality and structural support comprehensively. Your nurse will assess during your consultation whether Structura is appropriate for your specific concerns and anatomy.

In addition to Profhilo, we offer a range of targeted skin boosters suited to specific concerns and skin types. These include hyaluronic acid-based boosters for deep surface hydration, and combination treatments incorporating amino acids and vitamins to support skin repair and luminosity. The most appropriate product for your skin will be identified during your consultation and skin analysis using the Observe520X imaging system, which assesses your skin at a level the naked eye cannot reach, giving us an objective, scientific basis for your treatment plan.
Skin booster treatments are appropriate for a broad range of patients. You may benefit if you are noticing:
Skin boosters are also used preventatively. From the mid-thirties onward, collagen and hyaluronic acid levels in the skin decline steadily. Starting a course of Profhilo at this stage, before significant laxity develops, is one of the most effective ways to preserve skin quality over the longer term.
A consultation with our nurse practitioners will determine whether skin boosters are the right option for you, and which specific product and protocol best suits your skin and your goals.

Your Consultation
Every skin booster treatment at DG Medical Aesthetics begins with a full clinical consultation. We review your medical history, assess your skin using the Observe520X imaging system, discuss your concerns and goals, and explain every available option. There is no same-day pressure, you are always encouraged to go home and reflect before committing to a treatment plan.
The Treatment Itself
Profhilo and other skin booster treatments are administered using fine needles at specific anatomical points on the face or treatment area. The procedure typically takes 20–30 minutes. Topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand if required. Most patients describe the sensation as mild and well-tolerated.
Downtime
There is minimal downtime associated with skin booster treatments. Some patients experience minor redness, small bumps at injection points, or slight bruising, all of which typically resolve within 24–48 hours. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after their appointment.
Results Timeline
Initial hydration benefits may be visible within a few days of treatment. The collagen and elastin stimulation that Profhilo initiates builds gradually, most patients see their best results four to eight weeks after completing the two-session course.
Maintenance
A maintenance session every six months is generally recommended to sustain and build on results. Your nurse will discuss the appropriate schedule for your skin at your follow-up appointment.
CQC-Registered Clinical Standards
DG Medical Aesthetics holds CQC registration, the same regulatory framework that governs NHS hospitals and GP surgeries. When you receive skin booster injections at our clinic, every stage of your care is backed by the highest level of clinical governance available in private aesthetics in the UK.

Nurse-Led Expertise
Profhilo and skin booster treatments are delivered exclusively by our registered nurses, Donna and Kerry. Injectable treatments require detailed anatomical knowledge and precise technique, both of which are grounded in decades of NHS and advanced aesthetic clinical experience. Our nurses will never recommend a treatment that isn't appropriate for your skin, and will always give you an honest assessment of what results are realistically achievable.

Advanced Skin Analysis
Before any treatment is recommended, your skin is assessed with the Observe520X imaging system, a clinical-grade skin analysis tool that maps hydration, pigmentation, texture, and structural changes at both the epidermal and dermal levels. This means your treatment plan is based on objective clinical data, not guesswork.

Yes. DG Medical Aesthetics offers Profhilo, Profhilo Structura, and a range of targeted skin booster treatments from our CQC-registered clinic in Yardley, Birmingham — approximately 15–20 minutes from Solihull via the A45 Coventry Road.
Profhilo is a type of skin booster, but a particularly advanced one. Standard skin boosters typically deliver hyaluronic acid to specific points to hydrate and improve surface texture. Profhilo goes further: it spreads beneath the skin across a wide area and actively stimulates collagen and elastin production, making it a bio-remodelling treatment rather than simply a hydrating one. The result is not just better hydration but measurable improvement in skin firmness and laxity over time. We offer both standard skin boosters and Profhilo at our clinic, and your nurse will recommend the most appropriate option during your consultation.
The standard Profhilo protocol is two sessions, administered four weeks apart. Results continue to develop for several weeks after the second session, with peak results typically visible at around eight weeks. Maintenance sessions every six months are generally recommended thereafter to sustain the improvements.
Yes, Profhilo is one of the most effective treatments available for the skin changes associated with perimenopause and menopause, including dehydration, reduced firmness, and increased crepiness. The decline in oestrogen during this period accelerates the loss of collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin. Profhilo directly addresses this by stimulating four types of collagen and replenishing deep hydration. We also offer a dedicated menopause skin consultation for patients who want to address hormonal skin changes comprehensively.
