Understanding Skin Laxity & Sagging
Skin laxity, often referred to as sagging, is a condition where the skin loses its firmness and resilience, resulting in a less defined appearance. This affects the jawline, neck, cheeks, and eyelids. We target the biological breakdown in the deeper dermis for effective lifting results.
What Causes It
Structural Breakdown
Collagen and Elastin Degradation
As we age, existing fibres become fragmented and production slows, causing the skin to lose its support network and yield to gravity.
Diminished Subcutaneous Volume
Loss and descent of fat and bone tissue means the skin has less scaffolding to stretch across, leading to jowls and a flattened mid-face.
Environmental Damage
Unprotected sun exposure generates free radicals that actively break down collagen far beyond what genetics alone would dictate.
How We Assess It
Every patient begins with a 60-minute consultation with a registered nurse, not a salesperson. We map the skin with Observe520X imaging, which shows hydration, collagen density, vascular activity and pigment sitting below the surface that is not yet visible to the eye. That is what a treatment plan is built from.
We do not treat on the day of a first consultation. You go home with a written plan and a full cost, and you come back only when you are certain. Injectable treatments are prescribed by an Independent Nurse Prescriber, and the clinic holds full CQC registration, which places us under the same regulatory framework as a GP surgery.
If the right answer is that a treatment will not help you, or that you need a referral rather than a course, we will say so.
Treatments We Use
Profhilo & Profhilo Structura
Injectable bio-remodelling that works at a cellular level to rebuild the skin's support structure and restore volume high in the cheeks.
Polynucleotides
Regenerative treatment that bio-stimulates your own cells to produce collagen and elastin for improved skin elasticity.
Alma Harmony ClearLift™
A breakthrough non-ablative laser that tightens and lifts from within by stimulating deep dermal remodelling with no downtime.
Dermal Fillers
Strategically placed to restore mid-face volume, which in turn lifts and supports the lower face and jawline.

Laxity is rarely fixed by one treatment, because it has two causes: skin quality and lost structural volume. Your assessment establishes which is dominant before anything is recommended, and the full cost of the plan is agreed before you commit.
Supporting It at Home
In-clinic treatment does the heavy lifting, but what you do daily determines how well the result holds. These are the categories that matter for this concern.
| Strategy | Clinical Benefit | Ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Collagen Stimulation | Promotes structural protein production | Retinoids |
| Antioxidant Support | Protects existing collagen from free radicals | Vitamins C and E |
| Firming Protection | Prevents environmental collagen destruction | Broad-Spectrum SPF 30+ |
Our Recommendation
For comprehensive lifting, we often customise a plan that addresses both the quality of the skin and the loss of volume. This typically involves treatments such as Fractional Laser Resurfacing or Dermal Fillers to restore youthful contour and structural integrity.
Skin Laxity & Sagging Questions
Can sagging skin be treated without surgery?
To a point, yes. Non-surgical treatment works well for mild to moderate laxity, where the skin has lost quality and the underlying support has thinned. ClearLift stimulates deep dermal remodelling and Profhilo Structura works at the level of the deeper support tissues. What non-surgical treatment cannot do is remove excess skin. If your laxity is advanced, we will tell you that honestly rather than sell you a course that will disappoint you.
How much does sagging skin treatment cost near Solihull?
ClearLift sessions start at £150 and Profhilo starts at £230 at our Yardley clinic, around 15 minutes from Solihull. Your £50 consultation is redeemable in full and includes Observe520X analysis, which maps collagen density and tells us which approach is appropriate before any plan is priced.
How long before I see results?
Collagen remodelling is gradual by nature. ClearLift results build over a course of four to six sessions, and Profhilo peaks six to eight weeks after the second session. Anyone promising an immediate lift from a regenerative treatment is describing something else.
Is jowling the same as skin laxity?
Jowling is one visible outcome of it. Skin laxity describes the general loss of firmness and elasticity; jowls appear specifically when weakened skin along the jawline is no longer supported by the fat pads and bone beneath it. That is why treating jowls often means restoring mid-face structure rather than working directly on the jawline.
Does treatment work on the neck and décolletage?
Yes. These areas often show laxity earlier than the face because the skin is thinner and they are frequently left out of a skincare routine. Profhilo is licensed for the neck, and we treat the décolletage and hands routinely.
Is this available near Solihull?
Yes. We treat skin laxity from our CQC-registered clinic in Yardley, Birmingham, roughly 15 to 20 minutes from Solihull town centre via the A45 Coventry Road.
